School Field Trips
Tennessee State Curriculum Standards 
The Owen Family would like to invite you to bring your students to our farm for a day of learning and fun. We offer several “educational opportunities” that correlate with the Tennessee Curriculum Standards as written in the “Blue Book for Learning”. The list of suggested standards include: Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies and span from Kindergarten through the Seventh grade. This list has been developed to add to your convenience in planning a trip to our farm.
We have also included just a small sample of activities that can be used in the classroom before or after your trip. These samples can be modified to meet the needs and levels of your students as necessary or may also be used as suggestions as you create your own lessons and plans.
Each fieldtrip includes:
- An Educational Talk: We teach the children about different aspects of agriculture and farm life.
- A Farm Hayride: We take the children on a fun hayride around the farm.
- A Visit to the Pet Area: Children visit our barnyard animal area with a variety of animals.
- A Visit to the Corn maze: Children will work their way through the corn maze.
- Each child will receive a pumpkin to take home.

We at Owen Family Farm believe that fun and learning go together. This is why we are opening our farm to the local schools in hopes that the children of our community and county will experience life long memories and learning through our educational farm tours. We are offering educational talks, exciting hands-on learning opportunities and tractor loads of fun farm activities. Your students will be exposed to many aspects of agriculture in the process as well as experiences that we hope they may never forget.
Payments
- The cost of all of the activities at Owen Family Farm is $6.00 per student. Teachers and bus drivers are admitted free.
- We strongly urge that you pay for the field trip with a school or personal check.
- We can always refund you in cash for children who do not come, or you can add cash to adjust for last minute changes.
- We want to spend time with the children, and not with the collection of money.
- Please collect money from students and siblings prior to arrival and have one adult per group in charge of handling payment.
When to Arrive
Please call 2-3 days prior to your trip to give a more specific headcount of the total number of children, teachers, parents and siblings coming. Please arrive for your "check-in-time" approximately five to ten minutes prior to the start of your field trip so your group can start promptly. We may not be able to extend your field trip time if you are late. We do not like to have to hurry you through what should be an educational and fun field trip.
Inclement Weather
Bad weather in your area does not necessarily mean that it will be bad weather here at the time of your field trip.
